What a whirlwind these past two weeks have been! I wanted to pop in with a quick update, especially for those waiting on the other versions of the new book. So far, only the ebook is live. I’m working as quickly (and sanely!) as possible to get the print and audio versions ready. As I mentioned in my last newsletter, family came to visit for the holiday—wonderful, but completely unplanned. I thought they’d be heading home right after Thanksgiving, but life had other ideas. It all started on a Monday morning. My husband was at a doctor’s appointment when his parents called: they were stranded on the side of the road near his work. That turned into a full-day ordeal—towing the car, diagnosing multiple issues, deciding what to do—and by that evening, they were back at our house. Fortunately, our daughter didn't work and we could go send her to pick them up because there would have been no way to get my father-in-law up in my Driveway Princess (that's what we have named my Hummer since she just sits around looking pretty). So there went that night of writing. The car wouldn’t be ready until late Tuesday, so they spent another evening with us. Thankfully, they stayed at an amazing nearby hotel that took great care of them. By Tuesday night the car was finally ready, and they planned to head out Wednesday morning. Wednesday afternoon, I “left work”—which in my world means I logged off my work laptop, walked a whole five steps to the couch, and opened my personal laptop—ready to settle in for some writing time. And just as I did… I saw their car pulling back into the driveway. More issues. My husband ended up putting the car on the lift that evening and fixing what he could. (Why didn’t he do the repairs the first time? Because he’d just had shots in his back on Monday—otherwise he probably could have saved them a lot of headaches. And yes… the shop had failed to top off the oil.) By Thursday morning, they were finally on the road. But the adventure didn’t end there. This weekend we drove to Montana to buy a wheelchair-accessible van for my father-in-law. My mother-in-law had been searching for one in California, but the prices were outrageous, so we found a good one elsewhere and picked it up for them. Another writing day gone—yet absolutely worth it. Now to schedule time to take it down to CA for them. All that to say: the second half of my month became “family first,” and the writing schedule took some hits. But I still accomplished more than I expected, even if things landed about a week behind. Now, a quick shameless plug. For those of you who have purchased any of my books—thank you, from the bottom of my heart. If you’d be willing to leave a review, it would mean the world to me. Reviews help my books get noticed, which helps me keep writing the stories you love. And speaking of stories… the next book is already underway. I have a rough outline sketched out, and scenes are already playing like a movie in my mind. I’ll be diving in soon, and I can’t wait to share more with you as it develops. Thank you, truly, for your patience and enthusiasm. Your support means everything. Until next time, Amy
