Pack Saddle Ranch - Book 4

If you've been following me for the last few weeks, you know I'm working on book 4 of the Pack Saddle Ranch series. Here's a concept image for the cover. It's not final, but I like to do this about halfway through the first draft, once I've gotten far enough into the book to really imagine the scene.

This also starts the book cover process, which I do so that by the time I'm done with the book — developmental editing, polishing, and the final draft — I'll have a cover ready to go. It also gives me a mental break from the words and lets my mind just "see" the images that go into my book. I play with different images and scenes you may never see, but again, it's a way for me to visualize the story.

Nora Flynn is running from the death of her father, which some of her brothers blame her for. She's from the Musselshell flats of Montana and runs west, only to collide with Jesse Calloway — whom many of you may know from The Outlaw's Second Chance as Alfred McAlister's best friend. He's the family friend who, in trying to defend the McAlisters, a family he loves, sticks his foot in his mouth and makes a mess of an already bad situation in The Quiet Hero's Promise. Laura forgave him for his blunder and began setting him up with other young ladies, determined to find a mate for this man the whole family loves.

When all else fails and the Great Depression takes such a hold that there's no hope left, Jesse sets out with no real destination — a drifter — until he collides with Nora Flynn, a stubborn, no-nonsense Amazon of a woman. Together they find a passion for training horses, and as they say, the rest is history.

So stay tuned. I'm working as fast as my tired, exhausted brain will let me, between paint brushes and sanding blocks.

  When I think about how far back I can trace my family tree with confidence, Edward Beeson stands as my earliest researched ancestor. While WikiTree may show lines stretching further into the past, Edward represents the furthest point where I've personally validated the research and feel confident in the documentation. He's my 7th great-grandfather, and his story spans two continents and three marriages during the tumultuous early years of colonial America. From Leicestershire to the New World Edward Beeson was born on February 24, 1659, in Thrussington, Leicestershire, England, to Thomas Beeson and Ann (Pecke) Beeson.
